What is the Parent IIC?

Parent Instructional Improvement Committee

The Lavallette Board of Education is dedicated to improving the academic performance of all students.  The Board believes that schools operate best when there is a close, cooperative relationship among all stakeholders, when there is a shared commitment to excellence between the school and the community.

School-level responsibility and accountability are crucial to the improvement process.  Therefore, the Board recognizes the need to move toward shared and decentralized decision making at the school level.

The IIC was established as an internal mechanism to assist in the design, implementation, and assessment of reform efforts at the district level in Lavallette Elementary School.  The IIC shall function as a coordinating body to assist in the decision-making process for the school community.

The membership of the Parent IIC shall include the Superintendent, Unit Leaders from each Unit, the Special Subject Unit Leader, Parent Unit Leaders from each unit,  the PTA President, Head Teacher, and member of the Board of Education.

The Parent IIC shall function within parameters established by the Lavallette Board of Education, and Federal and State laws and regulations.  School-level decisions shall support the district goals, objectives and priorities established by the Board of Education.

 Basic Facts:
