Great News!! Talented 5th Graders Get Statewide Recognition!
Julia K. and Laine M. entered a pod cast contest sponsored by the group Foreign Language Educators of NJ and came in second runner up! The one minute skit they entered was written by Rebecca and Christopher M. The skit is very funny and the Spanish is very clear and fluent. In other news, Sra. Merritt is asking any gardeners who are interested in planting marigold seeds this spring to help supply marigolds for the November 1st and 2nd Day of the Dead Celebration to see her or send in notes or emails and she will supply you with seeds! We want to fill Lavallette with beautiful, big, golden marigolds!
Finally, to commemorate Earth Day, 2010 on April 22nd, we are asking all families to send in their old cell phones and print cartridges for us to recycle. The proceeds will be used to help with dune stabilization in IslandBeachState Park and for our new program to help educate residents of Lavallette about the dangers of too much nitrogen getting into our beautiful BarnegatBay. Clean out your drawers and send in your old phones with your child in a bag marked either Sra. Merritt or Mrs. Lorenz!
