Sharon Carroll » WELCOME!

Welcome to my page of many!  I am truly blessed to be working at Lavallette School for my entire professional career.  This is my 24th year and I have had the pleasure of working with so many wonderful peers, students and parents.  My position here at school has changed many times over the years and today I am proud to be involved in so many areas of the school to support my peers and help educate all our students.
As the curriculum coach, I have the task of keeping our school curriculum up to date with any changes that come down from the Department of Education.  I also make sure that our teaching staff is aware of and complies with the written curriculum and offer assistance wherever I am able to.  I am a part of a county consortium of all other curriculum personnel who come together monthly to discuss and implement directives from the state.
I work in the library at our school, meeting with all the students K-4 on a weekly basis to foster the love of reading.  As part of this, I also run the Book Fairs during the school year which helps keep our bookshelves filled with what are students wish to read now.
In grades 6, 7 and 8, I have been working with our students implementing the new standards for Financial Literacy and tried to find a fun and meaningful way for them to explore the concept of managing finances.
I am pleased to report that our QSAC monitoring with the state of NJ is completed and we were successful proving that what we do in our school is compliant with the same rules and regulations that larger districts need to do.
Testing is my busiest times of the year which includes our NWEA MAP benchmark testing, which takes place 3 times a year for K-8 and our state-mandated testing for grades 3-8.  Once all the testing is complete, I go over the results, prepare information for the Board of Education and make recommendations to the teachers for student success.
As you can see, my day is quite busy and I LOVE IT!  I never know what to expect when I walk in the building and that is exactly how I like it!
